Casey Neistat’s AI-written Vlog
I finally watched Casey Neistat’s latest vlog written completely by Chat GPT-4. It served its purpose well to show how badly a script could be written by AI. That’s exactly what Casey wanted to do. He even went as far as to say that he could have written a better prompt to get better results but “AI has no soul”
One of the biggest mistakes I see people make when writing copy with Chat GPT is trying to do everything with a single one-shot prompt. Same for script writing.

That is the limited preview we have of the prompt he used. He is missing so many things that would be included if he was scripting a vlog himself. With the minimal information provided, we basically got a boring tour of Manhattan.
However, because of his delivery and his audience of other creatives that share his feelings toward AI, the video still performed as well as any of his recent videos with 1.1M views as of this morning a few days later.
AI’s Impact On Copywriting
At Perry Belcher’s AI event in Vegas, I ran into two kinds of copywriters. Those that complained about AI and how non-skilled copywriters that can’t write their way out of a paper bag were taking their projects and creating mediocre copy with tools like Jasper and now Chat GPT. The second group is embracing change with AI and leveraging it to write better copy in less time. Many of the copywriters in the second group have actually been using it for a while, even before the release of ChatGPT, either using Jasper/Jarvis, Copy.ai, or GPT-3 through the Playground or API access.
I think one of the leaders in that second group embracing the change is Sam Woods. Sam has been using AI for copywriting since 2019.
Here is are a couple of great interviews with Sam giving more insights into his process and how you can get better copy out of AI in any style such as Gary Halbert, David Ogilvy, John Caples, or any of your favorite modern-day copywriters if you have some example copy from them to model.
That’s it for today, I hope you enjoy the videos. Pay attention to how Sam is structuring his prompts and how he builds up everything he needs to “write” great copy before actually writing any copy through AI.
Tomorrow, I am thinking of showing some more automation within Make.com
Until tomorrow,
