We spoke to 24 founders from the cohort to gain insights into how AI is shaping their industries, the challenges they face, and their plans for the future.
AI in Advertising: ADSGENCY
Bolbi Liu, founder of AdsGency, a no-code platform for automating advertising workflows, highlighted the use of AI for content generation and machine learning models for prediction and optimization. Liu emphasized the creative freedom that AI provides in generating marketing material, with a touch of humor, noting that there's "a certain room for hallucinations" in AI-generated marketing content.
AI in Video Games: ASTROS
Zsika Phillip, founder of Astros, a company that provides platforms and tools for mobile game studios, discussed the transformative power of generative AI in the entertainment landscape. Phillip highlighted the use of synthetic data to create realistic experiences and the potential of AI to become the standard in the video game industry.
AI in Social Media: CANOPY

Dunn expressed her goal of going beyond surface-level solutions and making it easier to care for aging parents or grandparents.
AI in Robotics: CHASSI
Chuka Okoye, co-founder of Chassi, a startup that helps robotics and embedded companies ship software, discussed the use of AI to reduce the need for senior developers. Okoye emphasized the role of AI co-pilots in guiding modular developers and automating the development workflow.

As the demand for AI grows, the shortage of data center power and space could become a major bottleneck
In the race to develop and adopt artificial intelligence (AI) technology, one critical issue seems to be getting overlooked: the shortage of data center power and space needed to train and run AI applications.
While much attention has been focused on intellectual property and regulatory concerns, the ability to meet the escalating demand for AI hinges on solving the data center shortage. In this article, we will explore the challenges posed by the shortage and its potential implications for the future of AI.
The Importance of Data Centers to AI:
Data centers are the unsung heroes of our digital world, processing the countless interactions we have with technology on a daily basis. From social media scrolling to online shopping, data centers are the backbone of our IT infrastructure.
However, as the demand for AI skyrockets, data center capacity is struggling to keep up. A recent report revealed a vacancy rate of just 2.88 percent in the top 10 North American markets, indicating that demand is far outpacing supply.
The Four Challenges of Data Center Shortage:
Cost: Building data centers is an expensive endeavor, with a medium-sized facility costing close to half a billion dollars. The projected demand for AI in the coming years will require tens of billions of dollars in capital, making it challenging to raise funds and keep pace with demand.
Time: Constructing a data center takes anywhere from 24 to 36 months, and supply chain challenges have increased lead times for essential components. The industry is struggling to meet the current demand, let alone the exponential growth driven by AI.
Space: Available space in data centers is becoming scarce, with existing customers exercising their right of first refusal on additional capacity. The growth of hyperscale cloud and enterprise technology deployments further strains the supply. Data center providers must design new facilities to accommodate a range of workloads to meet market demands.
Power: Power constraints pose a significant challenge, with AI workloads requiring up to five times the power of traditional workloads. Major data center markets have already announced constraints on delivering promised power, and the transition to renewable energy adds further strain to power grids.
Implications of the Data Center Shortage:
If the data center shortage persists, it could have far-reaching consequences. The speed at which AI application developers can deploy GPU-powered clusters for training large language models could be hampered. Data center capacity may struggle to meet the demand of cloud providers and enterprises, impacting the services we rely on daily.
Additionally, the shortage could affect companies like Nvidia, whose valuation is based on the anticipated demand for their GPUs. Without sufficient data center capacity, there may be nowhere to put these crucial components.
The shortage of data center power and space poses a significant threat to the future of AI. Solving this bottleneck is crucial for meeting the growing demand for AI and enabling the deployment of advanced applications.
Data center providers must find innovative solutions to overcome the challenges of cost, time, space, and power. Failure to address this issue could have profound implications for the development and adoption of AI, hindering progress and limiting the potential of this transformative technology.
